ARCHIVE - CONCERT OF DIVAS BAND 28.04.2013
On 28th of April this year at 6:00 p.m. in Klimat Club in Bielsko-Biała a jazz music concert was performed by “Le Divas” band. The band is composed of four artists singing to the accompaniment of a saxophone, piano and percussion.
Le Divas have performed since 2006 by taking part in many important cultural events and jazz reviews in Catania and Palermo. They also sang on stages of many Sicilian theatres, among others in Agrigento, Messina and Brolo. At present they work on their first album with compositions created in whole by the artists.
Below the artists’ profiles have been presented:
Anita Vitale is a pianist with excellent vocal skills, allowing her to easily switch from jazz style “vocalese” to black music. She cooperated with many European jazz performers and also with such representatives of Italian pop music as Lucio Dalla or Claudio Baglioni. She also performed with a great success in London during the Word of Music festival with the “Sciroccu” spectacle.
Valeria Milazzo is a soloist who belongs to “Aes Dana” Celtic music band, cooperating with such artists as Roberto Pregadio, Jenny B, Salvatore Bonafede. She is also known from theatre tours in Milan, Rome and Florence.
Marcella Nigro is a so-called “black voice” of the band. She worked with Michele Torpedine and Fio Zanotti, she cooperated as a soloist with such orchestras as Orchestra Siciliana, Open Jazz Orchestra and Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana.
Rita Collura is a famous saxophonist, a graduate of the Conservatoire in Palermo at Jazz Faculty. She is a several time finalist and a winner of international competitions in the field of arranging and composing for jazz orchestra. She has performed and cooperated with many musicians and theatre stages. She is an author of “Mare” and “Ritratti” albums. At present she works as a lecturer at Bellini Conservatoire in Palermo.
The artists will be accompanied by Giuseppe Sinforini on percussion.
The quartet is famous for great enthusiasm for the performed concerts and exceptional sense of music. Friendship and natural communication between the artists make their performances both moving and at the same time amusing, abundant in so-called “feminine” irony. During music performances they make best efforts to pay tribute to such “eternal” stars as Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker or Carole King.
