ARCHIVE - PIERO ZAMBUTO EXHIBITION 14.09.2012

On 14th of September this year at 6:00 p.m. in the Museum in Bielsko-Biała an inauguration of the exhibition “Piero Zambuto-sculptures and functional works of art” took place. Piero Zambuto is an outstanding Italian sculptor, a graduate of the Art Institute in Agrigento. His complex and eventful artistic route has influenced the artist’s passion for expressive simplicity. In 1971 he participates in the competition “Colleverde”, where he wins the second award. A year after he shows his art for the first time in Agrigento. He spends the next years of his life in Paris where as an artist-designer he cooperates with Pierre Cardin, Paco Rabanne and Christian Dior. In France he also devotes himself to the interiors’ architecture. At the end of the seventies he discovers the unusual beauty of Linosa Island where he creates the first works of art in local hard lava stone. This material becomes the artist’s favourite material, next to sandstone, limestone and silicon stone. It is characteristic that Zambuto shapes the materials that he uses so as to obtain anthropomorphic forms. In the next years he organizes exhibitions on the island, two exhibitions in Agrigento, expositions in Milan in Pinacoteca Brera, in Palermo in Sambuca Palace, which earns him immense popularity.
